Akamai Foundation joins as Lead Sponsor of Girls STEM Summit-Statewide 2022 to inspire the next generation of female STEM professionals and help close the gender and diversity gap in STEM fields.

Akamai Foundation supports the 2022 Girls STEM Summit to inspire, educate, and expand girls’ STEM career horizons. Phyllis Russell, President of Jr.Tech, founding host of the Girls STEM Summit, states “We are thankful for the collaboration and partnership with Akamai Foundation. The sponsorship makes it possible for Jr.Tech to develop and host the 2022 Girls STEM Summit on Sunday, October 23, 2022.” Kara DiGiacomo, Executive Director of Akamai Foundation, states “We are excited to expand opportunities for young women across Massachusetts to explore, discover, contribute and embrace a shared passion for STEM education and tech career pathways.”

Jr.Tech, Inc. will host Girls STEM Summit, the premier Massachusetts statewide summit for students in grades 8 –12 who are interested in pursuing STEM degrees and exploring STEM career choices. Since 2011, Jr.Tech has hosted twelve in-person and two virtual Summits, creating the premier Massachusetts STEM event. The Summit serves participants interested in pursuing STEM degrees and exploring STEM career choices.

Who: 8th –12th grade participants interested in STEM
Pricing: $70 per participant (includes activities, continental breakfast, lunch, and give-away.) Families, private groups, or schools may buy individual seats or block seats

The key goals of the Massachusetts Girls STEM Summit–Statewide are to: 

  • Educate participants in grades 8 –12 on various STEM career paths through hands-on breakout sessions 
  • Encourage students to continue studying these disciplines throughout high school in order to prepare for college degree programs 
  • Inspire through interaction with female professional role models working in STEM fields 
  • Demonstrate that a STEM career is attainable 
  • Impact decision-making at a critical period, and to close the gender gap in the STEM workforce.
